How to Measure Your PD

Your Pupillary Distance (PD) is the distance between the centres of your pupils, measured in millimetres. It ensures your lenses align perfectly with your eyes for optimal clarity and comfort.

3 Easy Ways to Measure Your PD at Home

Method 1: Mirror & Ruler

  1. Stand approximately 20cm from a mirror.

Tips for an Accurate Measurement

Measure in good, even lighting — avoid shadows on your face.
Always measure 2–3 times and take the average.
Look straight ahead at something at least 3 metres away.
Use a millimetre ruler, not inches.
If your previous glasses have a PD printed on them, check the inside arm or your dispensing record.

Common Questions

What if my PD is different from my optician's record?
A difference of 1–2mm is normal between measurements. If you're unsure, go with your optician's number — or email us and we'll help.
Do I need a separate PD for each eye?
A single (binocular) PD is fine for most orders. If your optician gave you two numbers (e.g. R: 31 / L: 32), enter them as split PD on the order form.
What if I can't measure it myself?
Any optician can measure your PD for you — most will do it for free or a small fee. Alternatively, email us and we'll advise.
What's a normal PD?
Most adults are between 54mm and 74mm. Children are typically 43mm to 58mm.
